Twist PNP

Hi,

Just bought a Twist Plug N Play. For those of you that are not familiar with it, it comes complete with engine, servos, battery, etc. Everything is installed except the receiver and it is ready for flight with minimal work.

I had a question regarding the engine. It comes with an Evolution .46 installed. I don't have any experience with this engine and was wondering what the best 3D prop would be for it. I have used a 12.25 X 3.75 on my OS .50SX but think that this may be too much prop for the Evo. Any suggestions??

Thanks,

Dave

My son uses that same prop on his OS .46AX on a Great Planes Dazzler. Perfect combination for 3D. Not sure how the Evo compares to the OS, but I would think it's close enough to say that prop would be a good match.

Well, it looks like the 12.25 X 3.75 prop might be the way to go. Worth trying anyway since I already have a couple of them.

You might want to try out a APC 12X4 Sport, I didn't like the 12.25X3.75, I found it took too long to spool up. However the 12X4 sport really gets up to RPM quick, and has more power overall. IMO

100% right about the spool up. I had a few flights on the plane and I noticed that myself.

I will try the 12X4 and see how it goes. Thanks for your input.

HI DAVE,IVE BEEN USING THE 12.25X3.75W ON MY 46FX ALL LAST SEASON ,I THOUGHT IT WAS BETTER THAN THE 12X4 ESPECIALLY FOR HOVERING.AFTER I PUT THE 50SX ON MY TWIST I TRIED A 13X4W BUT DIDNT GET THE SPOOL UP,PUT THE 12.25X3.75 ON THE 50SX N GOT THE SAME PERFORMANCE AS THE SAME PROP WITH THE 46FX.I DONT THINK THERE IS MUCH DIFFERENCE IN POWER BETWEEN THOSE 2 ENGINES SO I THINK YOUR EVO 46 SHOULD BE IN THE SAME BALL PARK.SEE YOU AT BAYFEILD...L8R DUDE

Thanks for the info. gasman. It may be that the .46 OS has a little more power than the .46 Evolution. I just bought a couple of 12X4's at Skycraft and we'll see how it goes. If it's not as good, I can always throw the 12.25 X 3.75 back on. That twist sure is a fun plane though!! I think I prefer the way the Funtana flies over the Twist but maybe is still have to get used to the Twist. See you at Bayview.

Later,

Dave
