Weedie Fuel tank tubing.
I have a couple of small weedeaters, that I hope some day to promote to airplane engines. Right now, though, the wife prefers to use them to trim grass. However, the fuel feed tubing (into the tank and onto the clunk) has literally fallen apart. I stopped in at a small engine place and he looked at it and said he didn't have anything as small as what they were and suggested Canadian Tire. I stopped into a C.T. store in Kingston today and could find nothing.
Where do guys that use weedies in planes get tubing like that?

I have a need for the same thing, I think the new gas with ethanol eats away at the butamer lines, I believe your LHS may have gasoline engine tubing.

Re: Weedie Fuel tank tubing.
My small engine place had three sizes of Tygon, Main and Bronte, Milton
They gave me half a foot even though I only needed about 4cm for the whacker.

Re: Weedie Fuel tank tubing.
I get tubing like that from my snowmobile dealer. I don't know what its made of, but it lasts a long time. Been running about four years on that line in a husky trimmer.

Re: Weedie Fuel tank tubing.
Try Home Hardwhare and your going to need one size line 1/8 " is what I used and you need three lines one to pump side , one to the pick up and one to vent the tank . The weed eater tank vents through the filler cap. I had to put the bigger 36.cc engine on my Giles. She an old heavy girl . I am running a 17x6 Falcon prop from Thunderbolt and getting 5800 rpm from it . I had to open up the exaust on the outside of the muffler it had three 1/8" holes for the engine to breath and a plugged supresor screen got rid of the sreen and made the holes 3/8" of and inch . It gained about 600 rpm and makes about 12Lbs. of trust now . If you go on youtube it's on proteus 206 ( giles maiden flight ) it was a little lazy before the prop and exaust work .

Re: Weedie Fuel tank tubing.
Hi
Guys ,... guys ,.............. go to a STIHL dealer . If I was at work , I could give you a part number . Or even a Husqvarna dealer , they have high quality tubeing , that lasts for years . Go to a place that specilizes only in small engines Michel

Re: Weedie Fuel tank tubing.
Any snowmobile dealer should have it. It's used for primer line. It's clear vinyl 1/8 in. When I ran a shop I used to buy it by the 50 ft roll and sold some to one of the hobby shops, where he cut it up and packaged it up for fuel line for the gassers.

Re: Weedie Fuel tank tubing.
My weedeater and chainsaw are both 27 years old and still have the original fuel tubeing on them. I wonder if the more current weed whackers and such have a cheaper tubing on them!

Re: Weedie Fuel tank tubing.
Hate to throw cold water on your future plans for the weed eater engines but in my experience, they are best left on yard duty!
I have tried to convert several of them in the past but they just will not turn up much for RPM's. It seems that the manufacturers limit the engine speed by limiting the port timing & port size. This is to protect the engine when running with no load as a weed eater so often does. The one that I disassembled & measured, it was the transfer ports that were limited, so I took a die grinder & changed it to match the port timing of an engine that I knew performed well but it still didn't pull as well as it should have. Some guys have had good luck with Home lite weed eaters but the one I tried (32 cc) wouldn't rev over 5600 rpm even with a 14" prop! Should have pulled 7500 or more with an 18"! Chain saw engines on the other hand, are a different story! I haven't met a bad one yet!
