I have had the G2 sim for a couple of years now. I practiced a lot but once i new how to fly i didnt use it as much anymore. My sone loves planes..He is 5. So i decided to show him how to use the sim. Well he has been practicing for about 2 months now for about 1 houre per day. He can fly any of the planes on the sim and land them all. I have them all set for intermidiate. On the sim he can land a plane better than I can. He also learned how to fly the 3D heli on the sim as well!! I am thinking of getting him his own plane. I am thinking a GWS E-Starter. This is the plane that I learned a lot on. I know he is only 5 but I cant resist maybe getting him a plane. After that who knows?? Maybe he will be the only 6 year old next year at the field flying a heli!!

well lets put it this way. It will save you a lot of money. (you can try new things). It will likely shave off half of the normal time it would take you to learn flying a plane or heli.

The only thing it lacks is setup and maintenance on your kit..which generally comes from experience or good teaching.

I'm still learning some of those basics on my heli's...but it has definate advantages.. when your done, you can either save it to play around with or sell it...(holds its value well) to someone else looking to learn to fly.

The simulators and a good starter plane are a great way to learn to fly, I don't like all this stuff where you fly with a trainer. He does the take of and land so whats the fun..My dad and I can build a foam plane in 2 days (custom design and foam cutting) crash it if something happens, glue it together with your regular school glue, or use scotch which works amazing or build another one in 2 days. But it's really great that he progresses a lot

I started on the Beaver.
Went though about 4 of them.
Got fed up.
Decided to stay on the ground and go Nitro racin.

THe beaver is only like 80-90 bux.. But then I had to buy the $250 radio, servos, new motor, you know.. The Addiction.. And I could never get the hang of it.

Wow, that's pretty cool, he's gonna be amazing by the time he gets older... I started flying nitro when it was about 9, i think. I had an electric once but the power was so low it was stupid to fly
