I hope someone picks up the Python design. That was a great flier. I would hate to see it dissappear.

Re: QQ Aircraft Ceasing Operations - March 25, 2009

Well I wonder if my newly recovered 102" is worth more now? Most likely not. lol I had a feeling this was the case when I got the sale extension email.

Its unfortunate if nobody will manufacture at least the parts to keep these arfs in the air. You hope that you could replace a cowl or canopy a few years down the road without making it yourself.

There has been some downsizing in the ranks at Horizon as well. A few staple employees have been let go which is a sign of the times in the states.

I wouldn't doubt if Quique disappears from the RC scene for a while to pursue new ventures. Word on the street is he has had a job offered to him numerous times by Kimball Enterprises, assisting in the high-alpha aspect of design on their future planes, the Toucan included.

Cheers
Andrew

I can tell you with certainty that QQ will continue in RC. He is the current F3A world champion which he will be defending this summer in Portugal.

This past summer at the F3A US Nats he was really not well prepared, and it cost him in his results. Had he not been the defending champion he would not be going to the WC this summer, trust me this is not an acceptable result for those guys.

I have known and competed with him for many years and I have never seen him so unprepared for an event, especially pattern which is his real passion. I suspect that this is a restructuring of his RC world so that doesn't happen again.

Andrew,

I would suggest you go to www.chiefaircraft.com and buy as many spare parts NOW that you can forsee needing as I suspect there is a mad rush of people doing that right now!

Re: QQ Aircraft Ceasing Operations - March 25, 2009

Chad, to clarify, I meant the manufacturing and sales side of RC. I have no doubt that he would continue to compete.

Jim, I'm going to try to keep this one in one piece and all of the spare parts would be the wrong color anyways. I will just have to hope all this foamy time will keep my 102 in good hands.

Cheers
Andrew.

Frank,

The EF is a better choice anyways.

You could go Extra 300 now as well.

What colour Yak are you looking at?

Jim

YAK would be the red and white (Canadian eh) and Extra would be the red, white and blue. I talked to Curtis and he's bringing "lots" of goodies! I'm leaning to the Extra. It's sharp eh.
