Exclamation Help! Need Robart Retract part...

Did a little boo boo with my R54 and broke the trunion on one of the main retracts.

Called Robart for a replacement part and they advised that they are out of stock and the ETA is 2 to 3 weeks (or more.)

I've been invited to do a demo at one of the local clubs next weekend and would really like to accommodate them.

Does anyone know where I can find a trunion for a Robart 530RS main retract? The part number is 530-022M.

Thanks,
...jim

Re: Help! Need Robart Retract part...

Do you mean in a few days or next weekend like after the labour day one?

Is it possible to scan it? Maybe I can machine you one from solid aluminum.

Hi Jim, I don't know if it will fit or not, but I have a 607101A Robart Trunion that may work for you. The part is for a 607 mech. retract though. Let me know if you think this will work, Larry.

Re: Help! Need Robart Retract part...

Sierra makes trunions for robart. I bought some for my 630's and they will not break like the Robart ones.

Re: Help! Need Robart Retract part...

Andrew: Thank you much for the offer. But I have no idea how I would get the exact dimensions to you. And it's a complicated little bugger too. I've attached a pic. What's not showing is the 7/16" hole for the strut going in the far left end. The bolt on the left is recessed and squeezes the trunion to clamp the strut.

Fast Angel: Thank you for the offer. Unfortunatly, the 607 trunion is a different design and will not work.

Gary: Got a link?

Thanks guys!

Well, it looks like I expected. A few holes, a little bit of milling. Shouldnt be too much trouble.

If you still cant find one in a few days, you should through it into an express post envelope and send it to me...

AJC

PS working on your engine, I havtn forgotten

Re: Help! Need Robart Retract part...

Andrew,
You won't have any problems making one. I made a couple that look very similar only larger for my clunk. They may even be stronger by looking at the picture. Either that is a lot of corrosion or it is a cast part. Either way it shoud be better.
Jim I would send it to Andrew asap.
John

Re: Help! Need Robart Retract part...

Thanks again guys! I've received an offer from another Canadian Jet Jock to send a trunion to me from his collection of 530 retracts. Problem solved! Thanks Eric!

Oh, the one in the pick is machined. It looks that way because it's been around for a while and need a good cleaning. But it won't get it cuz it's busted. Heh.
