sounds like you have a stripped gear. did you buy it used. cuz if you did it sounds like you got scammed. notice to everyone buying a used rc. make sure you do a thorough inspection of the vehical and request a test drive before you commit to a purchase. most people arent out to scam you and some just dont realise its what there doing cuz they didnt realise there was something wrong with it themself. ive been dinged a couple times but it taught me what i should have done. hindsight is always 20/20. hope you get your tmaxx up and running. oh now that i wrote this its occured to me that tmaxxs with the 2 speed have reverse thats turned on with a servo. and its not the greatest design and gets stuck alot. check the servo positions and then test. aswell you could simply try to push the truck on the ground so all the wheels spin to see if it makes the trans geers spin. that way you can rule out front and rear differential problems and be sure the problems isolated to the trans. if it doesnt or the output shafts from the trans dont spin then you have differential problems. anyway best of luck and hope anything ive suggested helps.

I seem to remember the Maxx being like that... there's a clutch inside the transmission as well and the spur gear will just free spin untill it hits a certain RPM....

It's been awhile since I've had a T-Maxx but I think that's the way that it was?

Have you started the engine up yet and tried driving it to see if it works right or not before you go looking for a problem that might not be there?

T-Maxx tranny

The T-Maxx has two internal clutches, one is for the two speed and the other is the main clutch that's part of the forward and reverse mechanism and it doesn't engage til the rpm's are up there.

And yes the spur grear will move freely at low rpms in both directions.

And NO its not a stripped spur gear or the clutch bell guys.......

the clutch bell?

from what i gathered from your description, it sounds like you are talking about the clutch bell? the clutch shoes are mounted spring loaded to the flywheel(underneath the clutch bell), when the engine revs up, the shoes open up and engage the inside of the clutch bell, spinning it.
