Lee, did you reinforced the wings with cf for peace of mind or did you think it was needed?

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Hey Jack, the PRO comes with cf strips for the ailerons and a short piece for over the wing tube open section but I decided to make them full length since these wings are thinner and larger than the 40% extra. The weight is negligible but the wing sure won't be snapping outboard of the wingtube like trev's unfortunate one!
This plane also comes with cf wing and stab tubes standard...great kit!

Good to hear Lee. Thanks for taking time away from your build to reply. The build is coming along well and keep up the good work.

Awesome Job Lee!!!

I must say - my 43% wing failure was a surprise and still is a mystery (likely the sheeting was too thin there) - regardless, from now on, EVERY build will have CF strips like we're all doing here.

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Could part of wing failure nowadays be from more cc's then the usual 150cc's, higher torque servos on the control services. Also the high current batteries which supplies unbelievable holding amps?

Certainly hope not, or we're all in trouble, LOL!!!!

No - a 126" with such thick wings should never fail! The fact that it buckled when I stepped on it says there was a problem!!

Talking with Dennis, there haven't even been any reports of wing failures with the thin-winged PROs (and for those that have seen videos of Kurt wringing it out, violence is an understatement)...

The wing skins are all ready for bagging...what a job and my least favourite of the whole build. Endless taping, sanding, sanding, vacuuming, sanding ugghhh! Next one I'll give the wings to Trev!

LOL

My least favorite step also, Lee!!

And.. It's the most important part of the entire build . I always take the family out for a nice dinner at this stage, since it marks the 1/2-way mark of the build and the majority of the dust is behind you!!

Re: Carden PRO Built by Lee

Yes the edge gluing sanding skinning is a ton of monotonous work.
Look forward to seeing your bagging process though.
