Re: YS engine repair

Central Hobbies used to service YS engines, that's where I sent mine.
The web site shows two places that do service but none are in North America.

Re: YS engine repair

I have dealt with Nick Verano (I think Nick is his name directly) of YS USA before.
He's from Nevada. very helpful guy.

Re: YS engine repair

I too have dealt with YS America in Nevada for parts, but not sure if currently in business.

A quick search shows this source for parts only:

https://www.rcjapan.net/index.php?ma...a7l3372lv4v5e0

What size engine? I built a quartet of 120s, (of different versions) from boxes of bits and still have quite a lot of spare parts.

On that note, can you add some more detail. Along with the "Knock", is there compression, rough turning, etc.?

Re: YS engine repair

Compression still seems good as well as the bearings. There is no grinding or hard spots when turning the motor over. I believe it is a 140 with the supercharger. I will get it out of the plane here shortly and have a better look

Thanks for the help so far guys!

Re: YS engine repair

Post some pics and anything you find. Maybe some of my spares would be compatible if that would help.

Personally, think that anything worn internally, such as a connecting rod, would not really stop it at least from running. having said that I would recommend having a boo to ensure nothing rattling around inside that can cause irreparable damage.

CK Aero is the new YS distributer for North America. They’ll do service as well.

Re: YS engine repair

Get a quote first if you can. Central Hobbies was reasonable with the repair costs. I think my service cost was $30.00 plus the parts they used. But when I checked the costs for shipping, parts and service the engine was border line worth fixing.

I figure your shipping alone is going to cost $60.00 back and forth. It might not be worth fixing the engine in the long run.
