Here is a shot of Jan's new plane (edge 540) and him and his pal sitting under the shelter he brought (man I have to get one of those! - the shelter that is)

SOme minor engine difficulty prevented him from showing his stuff but I saw it airborn a few times... hopefully the bugs will be worked out soon!

Thanks for the pic AC. My buddy next to me has yet to come over and install drivers for my scanner, and I forgot my SIPIX on the way out! I believe the trouble may be from the optical isolator, I was unable to bypass the unit in Sudbury but it is now done and hope to test the unit tonite at our Wasi field.
For those interested the motor would quit in the air after a few minutes of flying and simply would not restart. Into the pits, take the cowl off, starts fine. Put cowl back on drag it to the flight line will not start*##!! Started later then quit 7 min into flite 2. I2 flights on the plane so far, one flight of 36 min, no problems before other than the odd cough on extreme maneuvers but not always. About 2+ gallons thru the motor so far. BTW its a new BME 102 EVIL

Jan,
Recently I have read on RCU that some guys are having trouble with the ED optical kill. It seems that if hard mounted (not wrapped in foam) it can kill the engine due to vibes.

I will buy it back from you (for the same amount you gave me when I ordered them) if you are not going to use it, as I dont want you to be out any cash if you decide that the unit is not working for you

Hope you get it figured out soon!

Made it to the field tonite, weather was perfect, however cant say the same about the plane. With the optical kill bypassed engine started fine. Coughed first flip with choke, 3 flips and were off. Flew sportsman IMAC and then felt like I had it licked so I did a t-roll at about 200 ' when she quit 11 min of flite time. I was holding throttle at about 1/3. She flipped around got a good glide and landed fine.
Tried going richer but this flight she glitched after take-off.Made it home again and a range check confirmed interference. Pack up and check things out at home I guess.
I did not have any glitches whatsoever up to this point, and of course range checks were 100%.

So its something other than the kill doing it... Hmmm what a pain. Are you going to send the ignition to get a checkout?

I will do some investigating this week to see what I can come up with. There are so many possibilities, just start one at a time I guess. Would be nice to have a back-up ignition to eliminate the ignition as the cause.
