Hi guys, just wondering if anybody has any pointers on mounting the Saito 180 into this plane and anything else important.

Isn't that a bit heavy? A good friend of mine has a f90 with a OS 91 and it hovers at 1/2 throttle. You will probably have to put the rx batt on the rudder. Strengthen the gear plate with that much weight.

Another guy at my feild has one on electric that is too heavy and while it flies it is not very good.

I fly one with a Thunder Tiger 91 four stroke and it flys very nice, removed the 17 ounce tank and installed a 12 ounce over the wing tube and put a 13X6 propeller on it. 5 ozs gives me 10 minute flight time

mine has the saito 120 on it. It is great, not too heavy at all. Balances slightly tail heavy with the batt pack at the rear of the canopy. All other gear more or less centered. The saito 180 in no heavier than the 120 (not enough to mention anyway) and is virtually the same pysical size.

All I needed to do to mount up the engine was to push out the blind nuts in the firewall and take a dremal and slot the holes the blind nuts were in to be able to get the engine mount width to match the engine. Mt 120 was back tight to the firewall, even had to cut a couple small notches for throttle lever and carb casting to sit into. with this arrangement i have about 1/4" clearance at the spinner. It looks fine.

I have hundreds of flights on my F90. Works great, a touch more power would be nice though ( a 150 would be perfect)

Enjoy your plane, just remember to watch your speed, the funtanas will self distruct if you do a lot of high speed passes with them. Low and slow it what they love.

Thanks guys, the reason for the 180 is, it's the only engine I have to use or go out and buy another one. If I had the money to spare I would probably get the new 125A, for now the 180 will have to do.

My bad. I thought the 180 was heavy compared to the 120. Sorry for the misdirection

Let us know how this combo works. I have a Saito 180 and was thinking about putting it in the Funtana at a future date. I just hope it will be enough power....

Hmmm : Imagine that you have an engine that may be too large for your project, and someone (like me ) needs a Saito 180 for his project. What to do, what to do
