arf's over kits
This is a subject brought up time and time again! Of course everyone is intitled to their own opinion! But For guys "like myself" that have only been in the hobby a couple years!.. find the Arf's to be more convinant so to speak. When it comes to these Arf's...come on guys! you get what you pay for! I also take the same pride in putting togather an Arf as would a builder! It all boils down to prefrence!
cheers! hope everyone got spoiled!!! mannyh |

ARFs
I wouild be a hypocrite if I slanged ARFs; I was raised on Jim Walker stuff, from the slide-together HLGs to the Interceptor catapult, to the Firebaby c/l. Once I built enough kits and made a few of them fly, I have only ventured into ARFs and BARFs very occasionally. They DO introduce people into the hobby and that is good. What ain't so good is when the size and complexity of these ARFs are a threat to the public, or a built in such a way as to guarantee failure. This is why I find stick-type park flyers to be such a boon; they introduce people to the hobby without threatening its survival. Lots of "experts" sneer at these models, but if you have a beginner show up at the field with a new model, which do youi choose? The 40-powered machine that could easily bash someone , or a 10oz puffball? Both teach the same basics, ie, left/right/up/down/orientation. Bring on the sticks, and leave the biggies at home IMHO.
