I don't know how many of you have being through this before but this yearb I spent more time waiting for parts and fixing my tricopter than flying it, I also spent more money than what I wanted so I decided to make my own tricopter out of delrin, so here it is.

It wasn't easy I had to learn AutoCAD but it was worth I did enjoyed and I'm very pleased with the result, also help that I know the guy that laser cut it for me

Re: Pat's Tricopter for fpv

good job Patrizo.

I have had a lot of frustration with my wood armed tricopter. Every other month I go back and toy with it a bit. And I had it flying stable for like 2 flights via FPV. Then it all went bad again.

oh well

fits in this nice case too

Re: Pat's Tricopter for fpv

Nice set up Scott

Those motors look efficient, you are running on 2s bat? Nice I'm on 4s and/or 3s lol

What sort of problems are you having? I used to have an RCExplorer withe zip-tie holding the motors and I had to replace the zip-ties almost every flight, I used to have all kind of problems with rotorcraft lol.

The wood booms tend to flex and twist but they are ok in general, I like to keep them short to make them more crash resistant also it's harder to twist.

Cheers
Pat.

Re: Pat's Tricopter for fpv

Ok unfortunately I don't have much to report I will try to get some flights during the week and the weekend and post them. As far as the design I'm working on losing some weight I also have to finish drawing the landing gear.

I think I will make another plate and use four dampers to completely isolate the motors vibration from the rest of the frame, at least for testing purposes. Any opinion or suggestions are welcome I'm trying to make this bugger the best I can.

Pat.
