I know it doesn't matter much up in your neck of the woods, but what kind of Db readings are you getting with your setup?

NO NO NO!!! Jim, those combo machines are nothing but trouble... Get a decent lathe, they have one about 10 or 11 inch swing for about $1500. Better yet try and find a good used old one.

A mill is nice but not necessary - but it is nice once you get to use it . I couldnt live without my lathe and mill - they get used allmost daily!! SO many things you can make up for your self that you would normally just go and buy...

DB - dont know but the twins run no louder then my Brison 69cc single with Bisson muffler.

You know, they are quieter in the air than the average 40 or 60 glow!

I know what you mean .... most people hear them on the ground and that's it.

The sound dissipates better of the lower revving gas engines.

Andrew

I wish I had even a tenth of you talent. I have alot of idea's and dreams but that is where it starts and stop. For an inquiring mind how long from start to finish does it take to construct one of you twins??

Hey let me tell you this. I am stuborn - that may not be a good trait in other things but in machining it is a great one! Maybe persistant would be a better term - anyway once I get an idea in my head its stuck there untill I do something about it. I have LOTS of dreams and want to try a lot of things, and I will say (without any arrogance) there is one thing that separates the
"do-ers" and the "want to do-ers"... thats just having the "oomph" to actually try something!

I make tons of mistakes, I fail at many things I try. But I do not let it stop me from trying something new. I expect failure, and when I do have a success it is like a "bonus" so to speak. So, my only advice is instead of just thinking of trying something, actually go and do it! You may just surprise yourself. At the least, you will learn how NOT to do something again.

To answer your question, to build the two twins I did, I spent about 25 hours start to finish. For a single cylinder engine I can usually turn one out in about 15 to 20 hours. BUT... my first attempt at making an engine about 6 years ago took me about 80 hours, and it turned out like a piece of Cr*p!! But I learned something from the experience, and started on #2. That led to #3.... and now I am actually getting some success.

Press on, press on - if it was easy everyone would be doing it, but the skills are there to be learned by trial and error. Just do it!
