Flat Spins

So I finally got up the nerve to venture outside of Sport flyin' a little bit. Have been working on flat spins. So here is the question, I can get it (30% S-Bach 342) into the spin (nice and tight) but the plane displays quite a bit of nose down attitude.

Whats wrong? CG to far forward, not enough elevator...

Re: Flat Spins

Add some throttle that should help flatten it out

Re: Flat Spins

I've seen guys talkin' about setting their planes up for "Neutral". How is this accomplished? Would I change the CG so that if I fly up at 45 degrees, then roll inverted I wouldn't have to add down elevator?

Re: Flat Spins

Thanks Hanes. This plane Sport Flies well. Knife-edge is a breeze both directions, Mr. Hunter hovered it with ease! Guess I'll tinker with her, she's way over her "Best Before" date!

So what other simple 3D techniques could a novice try? (Yeah Dale I gotta get off the farm more!)

Re: Flat Spins

I balance my planes until they fly level when turning the airplane inverted at 1/2 throttle.

Stay out of the tree's.

For me lately, it's avoid the trout pond.

As for serious suggestions Brent. Just fly, lots. Keep the danger factor low unless the crowd is worthy.

Re: Flat Spins

I'm with the first guy inverted on a 45 and it maintains the 45 is where I like to be with my slick. The yak is tail heavy it climbs when I do the 45 lol. And I agree with the adding throttle in the flat spin it will hold the nose up and make for some nice tight spins
