work hard
I think you answered your own question. Work hard, burn tons of fuel, enter some competitions, have lots of fun. Like anything in life, have a goal in mind and work towards it and it should all fall into place.

BTW maybe while you're looking for sponsors you could also find one for TOC. Last I heard they needed one too.

Talk to Chad Northeast (aka. can773) he's the Canadian National F3A champ. He was telling me awhile ago that it took a lot of work and time to get some pretty meager handouts at first but once you start winning they will come to you.

Best advice - keep practicing and keep winning.

Enter as many of the major (and minor) contest you can. It's very similar to auto racing where you have to start at the bottom with your own money and just climb the ladder until you're mentioned in the same sentence as Michael Schumacher - Sorry, CPLR ooh - sorry again, Chip Hyde.
