I am with you on that.

I just got me a DX8 at Christmas, but when I finished up my 5503GX this weekend, I opted to use my DX7 with it.

Why? I dunno.
Maybe it was the comfort and the familiarity?
Maybe it was the comfort level in the reliability of this radio? (had all 20 slots full, so you know I used it A LOT)
Maybe it was the familiarity of the the switches used for heli flight with this radio (as opposed to the slightly different locations of some switches on the 8, particularly the "finger-reach" for the throttle hold on the DX7 when compared to the DX

Heli flew flawlessly.

Ya.. DX 7 is a great radio

I feel I should add, there are three versions of the DX7
The DX7, DX7se and the DX7S

The 7S is the latest, and from what I understand the best of the 3 versions. I may be wrong but from what i understand, as good as the perivous 2 were, there were a few lil hiccups in those versions that the 7S addressed nicely.

Re: Regarding flight sims

Not really hiccups per se... The differences as far as I know:

The original DX7: No throttle curve for airplanes
DX7 SE: No trainer port, 2048 resolution where the original had 1024.
DX7s: Latest and greatest. Adds telemetry and DSMX support.

The first two had a different case than the latest iteration. The new one uses a case like the DX8 - which I don't like. The older ones shared the same (or similar anyway) case as the JR X9503. I liked the feel of that one a lot better. As a result I wouldn't buy the newer iterations (nothing wrong with them, just I personally wouldn't).

There may be more differences, but those are the main ones afaik.

Re: Regarding flight sims

I am a newb at this. I purchased an MCX2 then 120SR, then MSR, then 450 3D. My wife got me an MCPXv2 and I wish I would have gone from the MCX2 to that. With all the money spent in between that would have covered a lt of spare parts. It has been fun and exciting all the way. I love the MSR for indoors. don't like my 120 SR at all. Was told not to get the MSRx. The MSR can still be purchased new if you want it. I think you will like the MCPXv2. Just don't try and fly it indoors. The wife will yell at you and the cat....well who cares about the cat. Good luck.
