Yep, have heard, and am guilty too. Don't take it the wrong way, but I was just curious as to how it happened. With the regular and Micro Deans, there is no way to put a short on a battery. If the Sermos/Anderson connectors were used and clipped together (polarized config), in the manner they are meant to be, then this could have been avoided. Only when the Sermos connectors are loose do they fall prey to "senior moments", brain drain, and brain cramps.

The last time I had a battery with loose Sermos connectors, I reached in the fuse to connect to the ESC and almost plugged them in reverse polarity. I let go the wrong wire, reached for the other one and dang it, didn't the wire I just let go pop into my hands again? Yep, you guessed it. Poof goes a CC Phoenix45 when I throttled up for a test. Ouch!

Three things from that incident. 1) Polarize the Sermos or get another connector like the Regular Deans. 2) CC ESC smoke leaves a lingering smell.... Febreeze your shop! 3) CC has great customer service... they replaced it for free, even after I told them how I smoked it.

- oh, one more thing. With a temp shorted LiPo pack.... keep a very close eye on it for a while. Always store it in a safe spot until you feel comfy that it isn't going to cause problems. Play it safe until you have discharged/charged it for a few cycles.
