My experience is that a micro FP/CP is the best teacher for nose in. A sim is good but doesn't replace the real (tiny) thing. The MSR and mCPx will do wonders, and fly over grass...crashes are quite painless. The figure 8 idea is great.

I also force myself to do ALL landings nose in. It will come, takes time.

Re: First nose in hover attempt = instant crash

Hi

This is exactly what I,m working on at the moment , nose in .

When I fly nose in , ........ I look at the tail rotor , and for the left , right , I put the stik , in the dirrection it,s going to counteract .

I,m just rolling on the ground at this moment . Sure hope I get better

Michel

Re: First nose in hover attempt = instant crash

I have been able to do nose in when moving but its the back and forth part that really screws me up. I think I will likely wear out my little heli this winter.

Re: First nose in hover attempt = instant crash

Jim not sure if this will help but way back when I first started with Plankers. I had orientation problem when plane was coming towards me . Quick right is left, left is right oops to late. Then I read somewhere that if when facing the plane move the stick towards the low wing this will level the plane. I would think this should also apply to Rotary wing. I haven't progressed that far yet . Still trying to follow Radd's instructions on hovering in one spot.

Thumbs up Re: First nose in hover attempt = instant crash

I'm telling you Ben slap the FM on that thing And stare it in the eye.Anybody that says using one is cheating is just pi**ed cause crashing has cost them thousands of dollars and they want you to suffer the same way they did lol.Been there done that got the hat and aint goin back

Nice thing about the FM is that you can just flip a switch on your radio and disable it.Saved me a ton of crashes and cash ..Good luck

Re: First nose in hover attempt = instant crash

My radio is a six channel I plan on using a GY240 gyro on it so channel five will be empty can I use the gyro sensativity to turn the Flymenter on or off? If you use S1 swash instead of S3 does the flymenter still do the mixing even when it's shut off? Never used it and am sort of gun shy about it.

Re: First nose in hover attempt = instant crash

Sneak up on it ...

Start by turning the tail outward to the side, slowly, a bit at a time, maintain your hover. Once you can fly side on (both directions), try flying side to side, slowly bring the tail around until you're flying horizontal figure 8's. Slow down the figure 8's and estend them further until you are flying pretty much head on when heading for the centre crossing. Keep slowing down until one day, you can actually stop that portion of the figure 8 ... viola! Nose-in.

I can't stress this enough, *always* plqan an "out". My bail-out maneuver is to gain height and get back into forward flight. Having learned aircraft first, this is my most comfortable condition.
