Hi
I got the engine yesterday. started it today. let it run at idle for 30min(temperature around 60C), then go around half throttle for another 30min(temperature around 95C). I'm planning to go for another hour tomorrow.
my question is how should I go for the next (second) hour? repeat today's procedure? or something else. I'm new to gas engine and looking for suggestions from all you experts.
please also tell me anything you suspected wrong in my description.
Thanks
Mark

Re: zenoah 26ei break in?

After an hour running - set the needles and go fly. Just do some lazy flying (circuits, touch and go's, etc) for a few flights to make sure nothing is set too lean or too rich and then fly.

Gas engines require a lot of run time to fully break in, but minimal run time on the bench - after 30 minutes to an hour you are good to go.

The main benefit is to set up the needles and make sure everything is well adjusted.

Re: zenoah 26ei break in?

Hi AJ & Michel
So after I mount the engine to my plane, do I need to set the needles at all? Should I turn both H & L needles to about 1/4 counter clockwise to grant rich fuel?
Thanks
Mark

Re: zenoah 26ei break in?

when you go flying first time out have some one who runs gas engines give ya a hand. its not complicated at all but a dead stick with a new plane may not be a nice scenario
