Saito .72 needs plane - any suggestions

I just retired my Seagull Extra 300 - permanently. The repair needed from last seasons FUBAR was more than my patience would allow. Now I need to replace plane with something else. Hmmm

Chris just beat me to it!

The Hangar 9 Funtana 40 is an awsome plane. The Saito .72 is a perfect match and with the proper propeller will hover at half throttle.

I just picked up one for myself about a month ago and for the price, I was very impressed with the quality of this ARF. Comes with Fiberglass cowel and wheel pants and can be almost ready to go in one evening. Its a one piece wing already joined so most of the work is done. Just install the tail feathers, the control horns and hinges, cut the cowel to fit then engine, install the canopy and your radio gear and away you go with one fantastic aerobatic plane.

I already had a Saito 91 so I used that but that much engine is absolutely not needed. If you want the perfect plane for your Saito .72 I definitely recommend the H9 Funtana 40S.

Heres a pic of my engine installation:

I have been considering a UCD 40 but didn't think it would be as good as the big brother. however, I have a Sledge 540 to build. I was thinking about Kyosho Pitts.

Let us know how the Funtana flies.

FUNTANA

What a nice looking aircraft. Hangar 9 did a great job putting this together.

You can't beat the price of around $200.00 for a plane covered and almost ready to go.
The fiberglass cowel and wheel pants are top notch.

I put a Saito 100 in mine, but from what I have read, a 72 will do just fine.

You won't build the sledge for another year or two, then double that to cover it

You could build a Pete N Poke but .... no, too much plane for you.

Seriously though there is a new Hangar 9 ARF called a Twist 40 that would meet your .72, and no one else has one yet.

Link is at

The U can Do 40 hasn't had much negative review. Check the forums; seems like an ok plane too.

Before you know it your DP ultimate will be back in the air

Just some ideas.

.72

I myself would go with the funtana, more scale looking and will do anything in the book with the .72 in it, there is a big review and write up, with video footage on rc universe, if you aren't on there let me know and i can post the link to the video.

Kyosho Flip3D, lighter and more wing area than the Funtana. Its an awesome fun fly model, best I have ever owned, and very well built.
