i mean witch way do you need the prop to spin, clockwise or anti clockwise

:P I wasn;t sure I never checked and never asked lol and my engine starts no matter which way i flick the prop

Most weewacker engines run like you want, but some (like the green weedeater brand) do turn "backwards"..

I think trying to get a 31cc Ryobi is probably your best bet.

Wait untill the spring cleanup when people throw away all their busted up crap, maybe you can snag one with a decent motor but broken trimmer part.

Or, try and look at a small engine shop, tell them what you are trying to do and ask for anything that was returned for fixing and the customer abandoned... BUT, do it in a very nice way. Dont expect them to give you something for nothing. And if you do get a free or cheap parts engines, and they ask very little or nothing for it, go and buy th guys a coffee - it will put you in the good books for future trips.... trust me!
