Nope thats right Jim, Randy's contest is the last one for me in Basic. Even though I can only get to one or two a year I will be going to sportsman next season for sure. Looking forward to it!

Not quite Jim...

My Extra will be more than enough plane for me to handle for a few years yet. Nothing wrong with it, so why not get my money's worth right?

I am taking a look at a second Extra 300L (same plane, Ohio 87" ) that Wildbill has for sale. He is bringing it down to the IMAC in london for me to have a look at. I have a Brison 69cc (4.2) for it and Hitec digital servos allready that I will remove from one of my large scale sport planes.

That will be the best bet I think, having two of the same plane with similar powerplants. I cant wait to see it, it looks really nice in the pics.

Yes i agree... if I had bigger engine I would have scooped it myself but I don't think a DA50 would do it justice.

See you in a few weeks!

Got the new plane almost ready to fly!

Mounted the DA 100 up and put the 27X10 prop on and did a test run in the plane today.

Still doing some finishing touches to the plane before it will fly ...... maybe Sunday or Monday at the latest.

Now back to that motor ...... It started up on the 2nd flip, primed it, one flip with choke ..... POP ..... turned choke off, one more flip and it was purring like a kitten (OK Lion )

I had gone out and picked up a 50 pound fish scale ...... so while it was purring away I put it in line with my tie-down .......

Lets see what this thing will do:

Idle - 5 lb's thrust

1/4 throttle - 20 lb's thrust

1/2 throttle - 30 lb's thrust There's my hover (hoping the plane weighs 25 pounds)

Full throttle - 45 lb's thrust There goes the wings!

I think this will therefore be good!

Flight report to follow!

Congratulations Jim. That new plane and engine combo sounds awsome! I can't wait to see it fly at the London IMAC!

Are you going with the 27" X 10 Prop on the DA100 right off, even for break-in? And if so, will you be using that prop continually or would you be using something different once the engine is broken in thouroughly? I've talked to three different people about props and have received three different answers as to break-in and post break-in prop use!

Do you have any pics of the plane yet....anxious to see it with the new engine up front!!!

Sounds like we're going to have a great turnout for the London IMAC. Come on all you couch potato aerobats, last chance this year to get in on an awsome event and meet one of the best group of fellows in RC today! This is season finally and Randy and his group has a lot of great stuff planned and a table full of wonderful prizes including a brand new DA50 Gasser and an Airtronix RD8000 radio system, among lots of other goodies!

Hope you don't mind me plugging this on your thread Jim! I am very excited about this event as is everyone else who is planning on attending! Looking forward to seeing you all there!!!!

When I was speaking to Randy he said to use the 27X10 and stick with it (definitely pulls, hope I heard him right or he will be all over me! )

The guys at DA said 27X10 then go to a 28X10, if RPM's start getting up or noise, I may try a 28X10.

Just wondering about the prop sizes since in talking to Mike C, he said to start off with a 26 X 10 for break-in and move up to a 27 X 10 for post break-in. Perhaps it depends on what mfg of prop your using!

I just don't need the extra espense of buying props that I won't be using!
