I was getting a lot more than that on the DA50. The Transplant DLE55 was a lot better on the up-lines but running rich, real rich! Funny I haven't touched the needles since it was in the other plane, and its rich. Forgot the tach in the shop, duh on my part. LOL maybe I could fly this thing out of my front yard? Na, the gravel is a bit hard on the prop!

Beginning to wonder if some of my issues are related to the volume of prop wash air going into (or not) the cowl.

No, not working today.
Brent, if it sounds good, reliable. Fly it. My type of tuning. If it needs more prop, feed it.
If it runs like a toilet, don't fly it.
Are you trying to get the last 15rpm out of it?

Nope! Not looking to run it on the raged edge. More about operating in the range of the torque peak. I have to get someone in my area hooked on the hobby, then we could swap props......
