New CRRC Pro GP50R prototype 50cc

An all new CRRC Pro 50cc engine.
The ( prototype ) GP50R
CRRC Pro sent this engine to me to do testing and list my findings.
I have had CRRC Pro engines 26cc and 50cc and have had great success with them.
Low weight, great performance and reliablity.
This new GP50R will have a CNC machined case, dual bearings on the crank, single ringed piston, rear inducted carb, etc. ( DA/DL mufflers will fit this engine ).
This engine is designed to run against DA and DL-50's.

I know that my CRRC Pro GF26I is a power house and I only can keep my fingers crossed for this new 50cc engine.

Here are a few pictures that were sent to me.

Re: New CRRC Pro GP50R prototype 50cc

My engine arrvived in the mail.
All looks very very good.
My engine included:
Engine, pitts muffler, ignition, stand-offs, sparkplug, wrenches, prop jig, all nessesary bolt, washer & gaskets.
Weights are as follows:
Base engine with prop bolts and prop washer............. 3 lbs 1.6 oz.
Pitts muffler, muffler bolts and gasket......................... 5.5 oz.
Ignition CDI unit .................................................. ..... 3.9 oz.
That is 3 lbs 11 oz or 3.68 lbs or 58.88 oz.

My DL-50 with the stock ( light ) muffler came in at a total of:
3 lbs 7 1/2 oz or 3.46 lbs or 55.4 oz.

So the CRRC GP50R is 3 1/2 oz heavier then my DL-50 , but has a heavier pitts muffler.
Both with the DL-50 muffler, the CRRC is only 1 1/2 oz. heavier.

CNC work on the engine case is very clean and on the money.
Head casting fins are a little wavey, but not a big deal to say the least.
Sparkplug threads are clean and sloop free.
Prop main shaft is drilled for a spinner and is 10mm in dia.
Engine mounting tabs are ( CNC milled case ) 8.5mm thick.
Carb is a Walbro ( there are two numbers ) WT ( 841 ) ( 907 ) and carb is fitted with a venturi.
Ignition is the CRRC Pro auto advance CDI unit that runs on 4.8V batteries.

Re: New CRRC Pro GP50R prototype 50cc

I have one of the stock mufflers from my DL-100 that I will run on this engine also to get some rpm numbers from a stock style DA/DL muffler set-up instead of the CRRC pitts only.
I will do it both ways, but we will be able to compare better with the same style mufflers.

Re: New CRRC Pro GP50R prototype 50cc

O.K., did some running.
I ran a light loading Xoar 20 X 8 ( That's all I had ).
I used one of my DL-100 mufflers to make a equal comparison to have the same style muffler as the DA-50 and DL-50.
Ran 32 oz. through it @ 40:1 Pennzoil Aircooled.
Only took it to 3500 rpm because of the small prop.
I just wanted to get some time in on it.
Then, the mail lady came with some props.
I put on a JFX 23 X 8 for some numbers.
I leaned the low needle in a little.
Turned the JFX 23 X 8 @ 6930 rpm with a idle of 1900 rpm and that's with only the 32 oz. run through it.
I have a JFX 22 X 10, and some more ( JFX & Xoars ) coming for more testing.
That's all for today, 21 degrees and 15 mph winds.................I'm staying inside.

Re: New CRRC Pro GP50R prototype 50cc

I am very, very impressed with the rpm's and the 23 X 8.
I had a hard time believeing it myself, especially as it only had 32 oz of fuel run through it.
I had the CRRC factory tell me that they were at 7400 rpm with a JFX 22 X 8.
Maybe those numbers are possible, I have the JFX 22 X 8 coming soon and I will run it posting some numbers.
Mid range and transition were real good.
I will try to get some video next time testing.
Those numbers are better then what my DL-50 ever turned that prop.

Re: New CRRC Pro GP50R prototype 50cc

I did some more engine running today.
Man what a differance today from yesterday.
Yesterday was 21 degrees and 15 mph winds, today is 58 degrees and still 15 mph winds.
I decided to drill the Mejzlik prop and run it.
I ran three props ( Mejzlik 22 X 8, JFX 22 X 10, JFX 23 X 8 ) and I took video of all three prop runs.
Yesterday I ran two 16 oz tank through the engine ( 32 oz. total ). Today I got new fuel, filled the 16 oz tank and ran all three props.
So, this engine after running the three props still has no more then 40 oz of fuel through it.
I did absolutely no needle turning in between props, needles stayed the same, just props were changed.
Needle tuning may get a little more rpm's with each prop, but the most rpm's will come from more run time/break-in.
I have more props ( Xoars & Hawks ) coming , but here are the three videos of todays runs.

Mejzlik 22 X 8 ........ around 7400 rpm
JFX 22 X 10............. around 6700 rpm
JFX 23 X 8................around 6840 rpm

Re: New CRRC Pro GP50R prototype 50cc

Some more props tested.
Again, absolutely no needle change from first prop test session and no changes in between props.
I started of with the JFX 23 X 8 that I ran in the first session to see if everything was the same and matched the first sessions rpm's.
The JFX 23 X 8 turned 6880 rpm. ( same range as first test ).

Hawk 22 X 8 ( absolutely screamed ).... 7560 rpm.

Hawk 22 X 10.................................... 6630 rpm.

Hawk 23 X 8 ..................................... 6680 rpm.

Xoar 24-3DA ..................................... 6630 rpm.

Xoar 24 X 10 ..................................... 5680 rpm. ( too much load, but I had it to test so I did ).
