Ircha 2013

Well finally made it to the big show

Attached a few pics of new products. The DX 9 looks and feels nice. You can't transfer from the 8 which would be a drag. I sure liked the sliders on the back though! The speed goblin looks cool- not sure if it is production. Also liked the new KDS line of quads and tris. The tail blades on the Blade 700 flop around like a fish on dry land - not very encouraging.

Speed goblin - there are only 3 of these. They don't know if they will go into production.

Re: Ircha 2013

When you say the tail blades are flopping do you mean they are loose in the grips or slop in the slider?

Slider - there are two pins running in a grove in the slider that allow significant back and forth play. I was really surprised and asked the horizon guy about it- he said you would not notice it in flight ?? It looks like the kind of slop designers have been trying to eliminate for years.

Re: Ircha 2013

I don't know how much you would actually notice that in flight. The tail is either in a state of pushing one direction or the other so any slack would be taken up. It may be prone to wearing from doing reversing piros would be my bigger concern (if I could do them). I'm sure a third party will make an upgrade and buyers will swear the tail is more locked in, whether it is or not. The only way I could think the slop there could matter is if you are doing very fine rudder adjustment while your mains are at 0 pitch, and even that the tail will be countering torque.

I have noticed (and fixed) slop in the tail blades as a cause of tail wag. The tail gyro/rudder is constantly chasing blades that are doing there own thing. I would be surprised if horizon has got it right while every other manufacturer seems to be increasingly tightening up and making more precise the rudder/push rd/slider assembly? Just sayin
