Trev and Jim, some of us are going to the hwy 20 and Rymal McDonalds for coffee this coming Thursday @ 7:00 PM.
First of all why would ANYONE of their own free will choose to go to Mickey D's for coffee when there are Timmies on every other corner?

I know Rymal Rd but where is Hwy 20?

Saturday night & foamies... yeah I'm in.

OK beside Fortinos and The Beer Store?

Not closer 4 me and Trev.

We could always drop in on Ted Barrette and see how his new 124" Extra is coming along. I hear he is at the covering stage. A good 3 months ahead of where he was last year.

Re: 58% Modellbau Pitts Build Thread - BBT

Progress on the baffle!

After I had all the cardboard templates fitting properly, I transfered the patterns to 1/8" microlite plywood and cut it all out on the scroll saw!

Total weight of the peices is 4.1oz, which is on par with the baffle I did for my 43% Carden/Mintor220.... it's light because this isn't aircraft grade plywood - it's that white microlite stuff!

Re: 58% Modellbau Pitts Build Thread - BBT

A bunch more pictures showing the left and right baffle plate (that forces the air through the fins), the left side, the right side and the 2 angled peices at the front.

I still have a 1/16" lite ply top piece that will go over the entire motor and create that large airscoop. So, basically, any air entering the front of the cowl, is accelerated (narrowing of the ducting) and then forced down around the fins!!

I'll do the top peice tomorrow!

Re: 58% Modellbau Pitts Build Thread - BBT

The cowl fits perfectly and there is a 1/16" gap between the front edges of the ducting and the inside fiberglass of the cowl. I'll close this gap with a peice of thin foam that I'll glue on the front edges of the ducting once this baffle is all painted.

Still the top plate to go over the motor - tomorrow's job!!!!

Wow looks great trev! I'd go flat black for paint! Do twins need to be baffled also or just the quads?

Thanks
Mike
