Already got that 2 years ago Dennis, I just got 4 more tool holder parts that key into the toolpost.

The most valuable and time saving things I bought in the last few years were definitely my:

- quick change toolpost
- American (good quality) made indexable carbide tool set
- digital read outs
- sherline rotary table and angle plate (so many uses, unbelieveable)

I imagine when i get used to it, this turret tailstock will also cut time in a big way. Whan I am, for instance, making 30 of the same parts and each one requires to be center drilled, drilled with one bit, drilled with another bit, and chamferred 45* (a real life example) I can probably save a few minutes per part just swapping bits in and out of the chuck. That in a 4 hour period will save me 1/2 hour? Thats a good amount of time!

Andrew,
If I am reading it right : It looks like you want to go into production.
Where are you getting all the time.

Well, small time production John! I do some parts for sale, for instance the Cox reset tools for the ball and socket joint. I manufacture these in 16 to 20 lot batches and sell them in the 010, 020, 049/051 and 09 sizes, as Cox no longer makes them. Little things like these reset tools, which I sell for $15 US a set, help pay for my tooling and more lathe goodies.

The faster I can make them, the more time I have to spend making my own goodies!

Also, been making diesel conversion heads lately. I can make them for a lot less than Davis Diesel sells them for generally - and have been getting some orders from guys in the USA. Again, if I can turn them out faster, I can bring down my cost and everyone is happy

Hi Andrew:
I have the Sherline rotary table too. One of those tools you don't know how you did without. goes on a 5 in. Toyo lathe. Had trouble getting the holes equal distance apart for prop hubs for chainsaw conversions. Rotary table made it a piece of cake. Works with a vertical mill attached to the back of the lathe.
Gord.

Before I got that Sherline RT, I allways had trouble getting 6 evenly spaced holes in an engine head - no matter how accurately I marked them out, punched and center drilled them, they would be a few thous off. Frustrating!

Now I set up my small 3 jaw on the RTable, and pop it onto the vertical mill, and bang there you go. Accuracy and precision are worth a lot of money to me...
