Advice - What park flyer to buy

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
I recently got my wings. But have been flying a lot so I think I am a bit better than beginner pilot - most likely intermediate

I am already freaking out about what I am going to do in the winter. I have a really big park by the school right across the road from where I live and I am thinking of getting a park flyer. There's so much to choose from I havn't got a clue where to start

Any suggestion would be appreciated

Thanks
Jack

Yeah Jack,

Agree with Bill the Parkzone Super Cub is awsome . They now have a float kit out too
I saw in the store the other day. The other parkzone kits are awsome also. The T-28
Trojan is also a fun flyer and sorta scale warbird lookalike.

Re: Advice - What park flyer to buy

Thanks folks. I don't have any batteries, chargers etc. Will have to invest. But do have a SPektrum TX and RX

Do you think I will outgrow the cub? Or is it an all-time fun flyer?

Also I was thinking of the mini stick from eflite I just saw ... thoughts?

There is also the mini-pulse from eflie but that may be a bit much for a park flyer but not sure

Jack if you are at the field today, Rod will have his eflite stick there.
Its an awesome little flyer. But it uses up a fair amount of airspace pretty quick.

Re: Advice - What park flyer to buy

yeah i was looking at the mini stick but it seem real fast for a park flyer?

I saw a bunch of planes from eflite that I liked, mini pulse, beaver and taylor craft. Once i figure out what plane to buy I need to figure out motors, servo's batteries etc

Re: Advice - What park flyer to buy

Hi there
How much you looking to spend ?
I would say if you want inexpensive fun get a foam ARF from Nitro Planes change out some stuff if you want to and just go have fun at the local park !! For under $300 you will get everything and you will have a blast !

On the other hand if the field is large and you want to spend more but get more and get something that can take a few tumbles without falling apart but will fly like a dream and do anything you throw at it get yourself a multiplex/hitec Acromaster. It flies well in windy and calm air and it transports easily! You will learn a lot from it it can be calm and slow or wild and fast ..But it will cost you more. Although the lipos you get for it will be a good size for lots of models including 400 size helis ( 3s 2200Mah 25-35c).

Lastly if you plan to fly in Winter an all foam plane is great, a little snow can not damage it just watch the electronics !
My 10cents : )
Good luck.

Re: Advice - What park flyer to buy

After 400+ flights on the GWS Formosa, I can say that it is still fun to fly. It lands easy, and a beginner can fly it, but it can do enough stunting to keep you interested. It only costs $43 at some places, and if you do decide to get one, go silver Axi 2212/26, get it with a stick mount, and use Hobby City 1300 3cell lipos. You will need a 20 amp speed control, and the eflite ones work and are cheap too. The foam on mine gets a bit stiff in winter, but no big problem.
