Zenoah G26-G38 magneto, you will need the nose weight. I have a G26 w/ a Xoar 18x6 on my BUSA 1/4 DR1 and it still needed a chunk of lead to balance correctly. Also, if you can, make the stab removable so you can adjust the incidence to get it to fly with the proper tail high attitude.

Re: What engine for 1/4 DR-1

+ 1 for Scott!

I have noticed that quite a few scale models look great on the ground but then drag their butts around the sky like a bad puppy that has just peed on the carpet and is expecting a severe scolding!

J3's especially! Get the tail up where it belongs and the plane will look so much better!

I have seen Scott's bird fly and it takes very little imagination to believe it's the real thing in the air!

Re: What engine for 1/4 DR-1

Thanks for the +1. A DLE 30 will be more than fine, just watch the CofG. The DLE30 will allow you to hang a nice big prop on the DR1. I built a 1/5 Pica Waco and put a DLE30 V2 on it.....It flies great! Keep us posted on the build Marc.
