Tx Battery

At what voltage do you stop flying for the day, assuming you've got a 9.6V NiCd Tx battery? Is the voltage displayed on my radio (JR XP6102) reliable, or do I need a loaded digital multimeter?

I put 3 flights on a small electric yesterday, and my Tx read 9.8V. It was about 0 degrees out, but the Tx was only outside for the 10 minute flights, plus 2 minutes walk there and back. I charged the battery this morning, and my charger (Triton) only put 30 mAh into the pack before giving up. It now gives a reading of 10.3V.

I cycled this pack a couple weeks ago, and got 87% of the rated capacity (522/600mAh). However, this was done through the radio, and I understand that the discharge diode can affect how the charger reads the pack.

Do I have anything to be worried about here?

If I am going to replace the battery, I'd prefer to do it with a 3S LiPo. I know there are some people doing this without voltage regulation, has anyone tried this with a 6102 or similar radio?

Thanks,

Ben
