If any of you cargo trailer owners have converted yours specifically to airplane use and have some pictures, I would appreciate it if you could post one or two ! (pictures that is)

VARIOUS WEIGHTS

Hey Cliff. We've had all different loads at different times. Loads have been from a few weed wackers and shovels hanging on the wall to small industrial Ransomme riding mowers.

Your bouncing is typical of an underweighted trailer.
The axle load rating for your trailer will determine load needed in your trailer. You didn't say if you had a 1500, 2000 or 3000lb axle. I would guess for that trailer, you have a 1500lb, but check to make sure. You could have specifically ordered the axle you want for your needs.
Bad thing now is you bought the trailer and are basically stuck with that.

Only real option now is to "ADD WEIGHT"
Put some heavy things in it and try it, weighing everything you put in and total up your best handling weight.
Once you have that desired weight, you can add permanent weight to it.
Maybe add a bench or some overhead shelves w/stock or build LEAD weight boxes and attach them to the bottom of the trailer floor to keep them out of the way. Just be sure to put the permanent weight center over the axles for proper tongue weight

I also have been shopping for a cargo trailer, and the only models available locally are the Wells Cargo and Interstate. The Interstate uses regular springs, and is about 1,000 bucks cheaper than the same size Wells Cargo. Can anyone out there who has an Interstate give me their opinion on this brand ??

IMHO:

Torflex axle is the better.

Weight is the problem... carring models does not put a load on the trailer.

Next Cliff's trailer - is a smaller one which probably has the SAME axle as Chuck 6X6X12 has.

Chuck as leaf springs – now Cliff, me, and Chuck all had our planes in Chucks trailer last year when we went to the Chicago Land Festival of Giants and is STILL had a little bounced.

When you talk to the people that SELL the trailers they will tell for LIGHT weights the Torflex axle is better. (that is why the charge more for them).

The company I (and Chuck) bought from says he has VERY little to NO problems with a torflex axle on trailers he sells.

BAD roads are going to be a problem with any trailer. Having your planes tied down so the do not move is the thing to me. IF they move a little on the support over time that will wear off the paint.

one other item: on Cliffs - Chucks and mine there is NO wheel well on the inside of the trailer.

Chuck trailer - which has a spring axle was $1000 less then mine, with the torflex axle, and that was not the only difference but the biggest.

That's exactly what I wanted to see, pics of a layout. I've looked in the back of a lot of trailers and haven't seen what I think is an ideal layout. I like the idea of the wings being wedged in on an angle. The fuses all wrapped around in foam looks a lot better than just setting them on a peg, I've seen some severe damage to fuses that way. The more foam the better.
