Color matching spinner to covering

I've almost completed my winter build, and have come to a bump in the road. I've purchased a yellow spinner from Great Planes (aluminum backplate), and I've having a hard time color matching it to covering. I will be using either Hangar 9 Ultracote or Sig AeroKote as I have used both of these covering before and feel comfortable using them. My problem is that because I do not live near a hobby shop, I can only look at the colors online. The color of the spinner seems to be almost a Cub yellow, but I am not sure. Has anyone ever used this color of spinner and matched it with covering?

Thank You.

Have you looked at spray paint that matches the covering? Is that Cub yellow? www.Towerhobbies.com has the matching spray to go with the Aerokote covering (LXEBE3)

Re: Color matching spinner to covering

That is an idea, but I would rather match covering as close as I could to the color of the spinner, rather than painting it.

Thumbs up Re: Color matching spinner to covering

I guess the only way is to take the spinner to your lhs and match it with their covering, or contact the place you ordered it from and see if they can match it for you. I would suggest going with an all aluminum spinner from Tru-Turn. good luck.

Re: Color matching spinner to covering

I have that spinner sitting on my bench right now. It's almost an exact match to pieces of both Monokote and Ultracote Cub yellow. My spinner is slightly lighter, but it's been on a plane for the last year and may have faded a little.

Re: Color matching spinner to covering

Thanks icegs. I thought that it may be a close match to Cub Yellow, but I didn't want to make the 2 hour round trip to the LHS, especially with the price of gas!!!

Bugerdup, I had thought about the aluminum spinners, but I wanted to color match the spinner to the covering as I will have a cowl in place as well that will be color matched.

Thanks for all your help.
