10 amps is probably all you'll ever need, either for the charging or use of the plane so you don't need heavy guage wire. I use 12 gauge on my 100amp land vehicles, I think 16 gauge is all you really need and is probably overkill. Little micro planes/helis can pull 10 amps and I think they only use 16 or 18 gauge wires on their batteries.
