Hi guys, does anyone know what the ring end gap should be for a bowman ring in a DLE 55 cylinder? I'm installing one right now and I measured 0.002". It's a new engine, but it seems to me that's a little tight.

Frank Bowman uses grey cast iron for his rings. They barely change size when heated.
The cylinder being aluminum will expand more than the ring will.

Thanks Brad. I just got an email from Frank and you are definitely right:

"Hello Colin, The Cast iron I have doesn't expand as much as any other metal so gap only to get ring in cylinder. gap .001 to .003. That is why my rings work so well Colin, tight gap more compression & more power. Happy New Year Frank"

Looks like I'm right in the middle. Now to polish the reed block and hopefully get some fuel through it this week. Just waiting on props, should be here Monday if Canada Post is on time.

He is a great guy to deal with !
Take the time to do the reed block mine in my DLE 30 was rough and the reeds were hanging open
i used a brand new flat stone on all gasket surfaces as well
they are full of high spots
my own thing i used 515 loctite on reassembly just a good sealer we have been using on sled motors for years
