It's a nice little strip. We put a lot of work in to it every year. Absolutely great bunch of members there too. New people always feel welcome. I hope we still have it in a few years as the new owners are studying it for a landfill/recycling site. Keeping our fingers crossed. The location is great for me, only 20 mins.

How far south of Kemptville are you?

OREO may actually be reasonably close to you.

Re: Hello New here

I am in Oxford Station 3 kms west of the tracks. 10 km south of Kemptville and 4 km west of 416. Your field is quite far unfortunately.
I am on a real tight budget for quite a while yet and gas is an expense.
I really should not even get into this but I'm going for it. I sold a guitar to allow this so what can I say?One needs some sort of pleasure eh.
I was thinking about it last night and I would have a hard time landing here from the south or west so maybe I should be looking at a smaller plane than the E-flyte Carbon cub ss? Maybe the the hobby zone micro champ would be a better starter? I can't really afford both but it's close.
So if I have to land from the west or NW or north it'd be with any general prevailing wind so a super calm day here would be a must. I'm thinking the mini might be a better idea for the enclosed space to start. Still I'll fly the sim for a month before I even attempt real outdoor flight.
I looked at AREO as well. It is very close indeed. Perhaps this summer I'll look for a club.

Re: Hello New here

hey Tom
Wish I had a place like yours. I bought a super cub RTF tis past christmass. been a blast. Easy to fly. You do not really need the simm to fly the cub.
I did play around with the clearview SE simm .it's a free download that you just have to buy extra planes. But it comes wit one trainer plane. I just use old usb gamepad for a controller.
It seems to fly much the same as the real fliht demo at the hobby store.
I also found the cub helped me fly the sim more than the sim helped me fly the cub

Re: Hello New here

I'm not sure it will be a good place to fly yet. Too many small trees. Time will tell. I may have to "selectively harvest some trees". heh heh.
I wish I could afford club and Maac fees and travel costs....someday.

I'm not too worried about flying. I am very worried about landing on my "postage stamp runway". The sim is getting me used to the radio which is much needed. I've probably spent 20 years playing flight sims from the FPV so I understand the working of a plane which is another passion but this I see is a whole new ball of wax.
I got the sim a plane and a radio now and learning. Unfortunately they don't have my plane model in the sim as of yet but the high wing trainers seem similar. Mine has a few more items than what I can find in a similar model like flaps so I can't wait until Phoenix releases a model for the sim.
The cubs seem to be on of the easiest in the sim anyway.
I may get one of those RTF mini cubs for $89 for the first few actual flights. I'd hate to break my other one. That'll be a while.
