Looking for a P-38 kit to build over the winter
I've decided to tackle a P-38 as my winter building project this year. The problem is I can't find a kit that fits the bill.
I'm looking for a size that will weigh in at about 6-7 lbs all up. I'm thinking about a 65" wingspan might be roughly this weight (I could use some advice on this). I'm an electric flyer and will convert the kit to electric. Any ideas where I can find plans/kits? I've never build straight from plans before--a p-38 might be a bit too much to bite off for my first plan build. advice? any kits out there anyone knows of? Ben Feist emfso.org |

I have a Royal P-38 kit NIB. It's larger than what you are looking for, here are the specs:
Scale: 1-3/8" = 1' Engines: .35 - .61 Twin Wing Span: 74-1/4" Wing Area: 695 Sq In. Length: 50-3/4" Weight: 9-10 lb. Control: 4-6 Channel I also have the scale cockpit interior for it. There are a few free P-38 plans you can download from: http://www.willingtons.com/mymac/Plans_Download.htm http://www.profili2.com/eng/default_plans.htm Type p38 is the name field. These are zipped dxf files. There is a 94" wing span plan at http://www.myunclewillies.com/ on page 23 that could be reduced to 70% which would give you a wing span of 65.8". Mike |

70", estimated 10lbs with retracts. What would an electric configuration for this plane look like? Does anyone have any comments on this kit? |

WING MFR P-38
Hi ; I have heard that the WING kits are designed to fly and that is why they are not exactly scale. All their kits have a good rep.
They are always down at TOLEDO with a large display and always eager to answer my questions. I have their P-38 kit. It is a nice kit. I bought it second hand so I never dealt with WING directly. I have not started to build it though. It is low on the list so far. |

Thanks for the info. I've emailed Wing Manufacturing twice (from two different email addresses) and have yet to get a reply. Maybe they're old school and prefer the phone?
