OT: How do you chase down the owner of a model rocket
I was driving back from a visit to P&F Measts in Victoria Square, and had just taken the ramp from westbound Elgin Mills unto the northbound 404 when I spotted what looked like a black tube lying on the paved shoulder.
When I got about twenty yards or so further down the ramp, it suddenly hit me what I'd looked at -- it was a rocket and parachute! I stopped the car and went back and looked at it. Sure enough, one of the plastic Estes rocket kits, missing a find and with the parachute streamed from one of the attachment points. The wind that day was from the north and there was nothing in that direction except farmers' fields. I can only surmise that the rocket had been launched in a field close to the 404, had lost the find and had the rocket tube bend in the middle. THe parachute had not been properly packed or had been streamed when the nosecone was ejected. Not label with owner's name and address either. No obvious signs of rocket activity in the area. Now, I'm going to put a notice on the local cable stations. Anyone from the area know the URL for the community cable station(s): Richmond Hill and Markham? Thanks! |

Judging by the glue marks around the other three fins, this is definitely NOT done by someone in the hobby, plus the tube parts being unglued... |
