Painted Props?

I had an idea hit me today, I was wondering if you could paint a wood prop a colour scheme without total unbalancing it or ruining the prop. Has anyone ever painter a prop (the whole thing, not just the tips)??? How did it turn out???

I just wanna get some input before I paint a $25 prop.

Thanks.

maybe air brush it so it will go on thin (thin the paint out with windshield washer fluid to the consistency of milk). It will be probably be o.o.b. so then just give the light side another light coat (rather than sanding down the heavy side). Best quality exterior latex is fuel proof when final coat is hobbypoxy or clearcoated.

I paint mine all the time, you can even use the paint to final balance by putting the prop on a balancer, and add a squirt to the light blade. (just as Voyager said) It doesn't take much.
Check it when dry!
I use regular rustoleum type spray cans.
It adds a nice touch to your plane!

I can't stand those GWS orange props so I paint them with CTC chrome bumper paint and paint the tips yellow. The paint goes on so thin and it's all done with one swipe balance is not a problem.

All wood props are either finished in polyurethane or lacquer - paint is no different. As long as you check the balance go for it like the others said!
