Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West
Well... even the greatest servos in the world will fail
. . . The other day I flew my GP123/Compy Suhkoi - got up in the air and the tail did a violent wag and the rudder stopped. Managed to get it down with a locked rudder that was slightly offset.... BLS172 wouldn't work... powered and stationary, but locked. I restarted the Rx and the servo worked flawlessly. As soon as the motor was running, after about 3-4min, the servo would lock out in a weird position. So there must be a loose connection in the servo that is affected by vibrations. We were able to recreate it about 6-7 times on the ground and one time it locked in full deflection. I would have surely lost the plane. I'll send it back to Futaba. Should this happen to a $250 servo? Still my favorite servos out there, but a close call!!! |

Only one more sleep until I get an airframe full of old school Futaba servo's.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West
I think the MKS are going to be awesome. I'm super impressed with the MKS747's on my jet and John has done some serious stress testing of the 777's on his rudder, LOL.
Now that one of my precious BLS's are out for repair, I'll be running a 777 in the rudder of my Suhkoi The only downside I see (like the BLS172/177's) is the weight. Then again, I play a lot with dolls and lead these days, so who am I to comment on that, LOL |
