I would like to invite all jet flyers to meet at Tofield for a weekend of jet flying. We have the use of a full size paved airport with the full support of the Town of Tofield and local service clubs, including the local full size flying club, for this event. On site camping with power and overnight secure charging facilities. Would like to make this an annual jet event if there is enough interest.

TOFIELD MINIATURE AIRCRAFT DISPLAY & FUNFLY: July 14 & 15. Located at the Town of Tofield Airport, 30 minutes East of Edmonton on Highway 14. Airport closed to full scale traffic for a fun weekend of model aircraft flying. Open to all MAAC members. Open to the public from the Edmonton and Tofield communities. Some display flying maybe scheduled. All types of models are welcome, no landing fee. On site concession and Saturday evening barbeque. Camping and charging facilities are available on site.

The 14,15th or another time?? Are you saying the jet rally will be the same weekend as the Miniature Aircraft event??

Yes, it will be the same weekend. At this time we are not sure that we would get a good enough response from the jet community to make this a jet only event. So like the early Princeton rally, the weekend will be open to other flyers who might wish to attend. If the numbers look encouraging, a jet only event is a possibility for the future.
Last year we had about 25 people attend over the two day period. Of these there were 4 of us flying jets so there was never an issue around mixing sport models with jets. When the jets went up, everyone else was content to watch. I expect that the same thing will happen this time around. Never the less, jets will be allocated dedicated time for flying without interference from 3-D flying and other sport models. I don’t want to offend anyone, but I don’t think jet flyers want to worry about who is in the fly zone or on the runway during their flights.

Sounds fine with me Bruce. Due to family committments I could do one event near Edmonton in '07. The family preference would be Tofield as its closer to West Edmonton Mall !
