HK450.... lotsa fun!!

Well, i bought a used HK450 from a friend and have been learning how to hover... My first foray into helicopters was a disaster... I purchased a Esky honeybee2 about 5 years ago, and tried to learn to fly it with no knowedge... as you can guess didn't turn out to well. Fast forward to last fall, i purchase a blade MCX... start playing around with it... love it fly it all winter, then the MSR comes out fly it lots to... love it.. then my friend lets me try his HK450 set up for a beginner!! well it was set up beautiful and i was able to do a little hovering!! that set the hook, then he sold it to me (picture a fisherman giving a big yank on the line with a smile on his face) I have fashioned my own set of training gear with dowels and zip ties and have been playing around in my driveway!! (at this point i'm in the live well in the boat) This is a great little heli for learning how to fly a collective pitch machine!!! Once i become comfortable with this heli i think i'll move to a nitro, but being able to fly in my driveway on a moments notice is a big plus to... IT won't take the place of my planks but it's sure a fun addition to the hangar!!!!

Re: HK450.... lotsa fun!!

Having flown nitros and a variety of electric heli's the align Trex was the one to beat. Then we saw the $30 hobby king clone (HK450) and thought- what the hell- for 30 bucks I'll get one (my original idea was to use the parts as spares for my Trex). But when it arrived I ened up putting it together and all I can say is WOW. Not bad for 30 bucks.
One word of advice- order the 5$ FG blades, the ones that come in the kit are CRAP!

If anyone wants a complete list of parts to order (motor, servos, ESC, Gyro) PM me

Re: HK450.... lotsa fun!!

Well i've managed to put 6 packs in a row of constant hovering without havinge to set down... i'm also going to be adding some upgraded parts to the machine... once again cheap from HC... I'm pretty lucky i have a 6000 sq. foot warehouse to practice in for now... it'll get filled up in a month or so though, so i'm trying to use it as much as i can right now..

cheers
