TopFlite Giant Zero

Just wondering if anyone has one, I just picked mine up last week and have started putting it together.
Any comments or concerns? So far, my fuselage was damage in shipping and waiting for a new one, but otherwise looks good, the covering is always a debate but for me I'll leave it as it is.

I have the electric Robart gear and the DLE55RA. Also picked up the drop tank.

Re: TopFlite Giant Zero

You bet.....
I started on the wings, I need to do a hobby store run for some supply's, so I didn't
do things in order....but going tomorrow.
Wing servos are in and gear is in, working on gear doors. So far I'm like the retracts, I called
Robart because I know they have had problems with the FW190 gear but they assured me not to worry about the Zero because they are much shorter.
I'll keep posting picks as I go.....

Re: TopFlite Giant Zero

Wing is complete....
Will have to wait for a bit to start on the fuselage, since the first fuselage was damaged during shipping, the second one came in last week. The problem it was damaged worse than the first one. Maybe 3 times the charm?

Re: TopFlite Giant Zero

Who is the shipping agent, King Kong, or Canada Post? Curious if it's an issue with TF's boxes being too flimsy, or is postal service being morons?

Re: TopFlite Giant Zero

Might be a bit of both, it was shipped by UPS. The second one that
was shipped was so bad that it was not just UPS. The packaging is not great.
The fuselage is wrapped with thin layer of bubble wrap, and sits right on the bottom of the
box, they could of packaged it better.

Re: TopFlite Giant Zero

So I now have a fuselage, took the third one to come no damaged. If anyone is ever considering this plane, the covering job sucks, plan and simple. The wings and tail feathers are nice thou. The problem is the fuselage is balsa wood and fibreglass blended together. The workmanship is not that great.
The good news is the local hobby store sold the old fuselages very cheap to me. I'm going to fix up the worse one and fibreglass it, which will solve all the problems, a nice winter project.

If anyone considers this plane just keep this in mind, maybe you'll get lucky get a nice one.

John

Re: TopFlite Giant Zero

Here's the left front side, you can see how bad of a job they did with filler between the fibre glass and the balsa wood.

Re: TopFlite Giant Zero

Another view of the front left, I did manage to iron out most of the covering.
