Shock Flyer- where to now?

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
I have just flown my Shock Flyer And will be looking for another plane . I would like to use the equipment that I already have.
Mabuchi 9r motor with 3.3 gearbox ( this came with the plane) where would I find a replacement motor for this. 10.5x5 prop.
Castle creation pixie 20p esp
GWS pico servos.
Kokam 11.1volt 700mah battery.
This plane will probably last for awhile if I donot ding it to bad, but I am looking to the future.
Thanks for the help.

I just finished putting together one of these

http://www.nesail.com/detail.php?productID=2868

Uses the same gear as the shocky, but more durable due to the EPP construction. Good kit with a decent supply of hardware (mostly NC cut PD board).

Will fly tonite

This is interesting.
I find the Shocky to be a decent flyer, but is quite flimsy.

Keep us informed on how it flys!

Oh ya baby!

The Blade is awesome! Is it better than the Shock Flier......I dont know too early to tell but its every bit as good. Rolls well, knife edges well, didnt do much hovering as it was windy and the turbulence through the houses (yes I flew it on the street under the street lights!) made any decent hovering unpredictable. Bags of power for outdoors......its just awesome well worth the $39 US

Setup is

AXI 2208/34
GWS 10x4.7
Castle Creations Phoenix 10
Apogee 2S 830 lipo
Futaba R114F receiver
x3 Futaba 3107 servos

Weight....unknown, will weigh it tomorrow.

Kit was built stock except replacing the aluminum spars and pushrods for carbon ones, and I didnt use the wheel pants.

I think the Biplane is going to be worth a try as well

This looks good but I am trying to stay with the set up I have now. Iknow sooner or later I will have to move up to a brushless set up.
What motor can I move up to with the ESC that I have. It would probably have to have a gearbox also. Thanks

Weight is 8.1 oz, or 230 grams.....

I will likely end up with the new 2204/54 Axi and some Apogee 245/420's when they come out and that should put the plane down to around 6.5-6.75 oz which would be perfect for indoor stuff as it flies really light as it is now.

Has anyone given the Hellraiser a try yet? I see that Great Hobbies is carrying it now.

I saw Gary Villette fly his 3DZ-LX at Chilliwack, the balsa version that's going to be released very soon, and it is VERY cool.

I've got an AXI 2208/34 just sitting around right now, so maybe I'll pop it in. The 3DZ-LX (balsa/ply laser cut) is still sitting on my workbench, waiting for covering, so I may try to put the Axi on that.
