Spinner balance

I went to change my master airscrew prop to an apc and found the spinner wouldn't fit over the new prop. What's the best way to deal with this? If I dremel the spinner it would be out of balance. How do you balance a spinner? It's a plastic one.

Wouldn't you have to dremel an equal amount on each side to accomodate the prop?

Though I'm sure it makes some difference, I've found the spinner balance to be negligable at best; at least for regular sport flying.

I agree with Nuker. On aluminum spinners with a hole, you can high point them, but with the plastic ones I first masking tape them, then measure and draw the outine I want to cut out, and then do it carefully to follow the lines. They are usually as good as the stock spinner, and I have not noticed any difference in balance/shake.

Just dont try and eyeball it, or you may get the cutouts off enough to add vibration. Mask and draw its easy and accurate.

I wasn't sure about this so I thought I'd ask. Masking it off seems like a good idea!

That makes sense..Now you mention it. After butchering a few spinners, I have learned to eyeball them pretty good now.
