Light and strong Hinges?
Can someone please post how you hinge the control surfaces? I'm looking for new ideas. Thanks

Re: Light and strong Hinges?
For indoor planes, tape hinges are just fine?
TECHone has plastic hinges for their EPP planes. They are easy to use. I have been wondering if it's a good idea to use paper money notes to make hinges.

Re: Light and strong Hinges?
On foamies, I came across the hot glue method and have been using them ever since. Clean, easy, never come apart.

Re: Light and strong Hinges?
The best epp hinge I have found is welders glue light coat each side scrape flat and tiny bead at tip of 45 put surface's on flat surface slide together remove excess scrape flat I use those sample credit cars or a steel scale to scrape makes a very strong gap less hinge you will love it fast and simple and light

Re: Light and strong Hinges?
Blenderm tape works as well. You can find it cheap at Shoppers Home Healthcare stores... if there is one near you.
I've used the glue hinge method before, but I find it makes the hinge too stiff if not applied carefully. At the other end of the spectrum, I've had glue hinges fail on me after repeated bashing and crashing. On EPP, fibre reinforced strapping tape works amazingly well for any general repair and reinforcement. I've used them for hinges too. |
