My vote would be Great Planes at this point. They have the best directions, build manual, etc I have had so far.

Re: What is the best Kits ??

Hi there is also the SIG fourstar series planes which are quick and e-z to build and take very few hours to build. Ie: the wing is not sheeted way less hassle for first timer ,parts are laser cut so very nice to build, takes 10-20 hours max to build if you are brand new at it. Great planes have nice kits just most have way more parts etc and take 60-100 hours to build, your choice.

Re: What is the best Kits ??

If you don't want a trainer but are a first time builder, I suggest you build a Kadet Sr. kit and sell it when your done.

The kadet Sr. kit is well made, and not hard to build, but the instructions are great, you learn almost all the skills you will need for more advanced balsa kits when you build a kadet.

And ,yes, ther're trainers, but I have been flying for 25 years and still love flying mine.

I agree with Bill..... build an easy builder for your first build and gain some building knowledge. Sig and Goldberg have some really nice, easy building kits.

They should really replace the "Trainer" wording from some planes and replace with "Relaxing" as I also still fly my trainers a lot for that relaxing feeling when a "pucker factor" plane is just not in the books for that day.

Cheers

Re: What is the best Kits ??

I have almost finished building the Carl Goldberg Tiger 60, it is a good kit for beginers and has alot of mods you can do to it if you want to. It is called a low wing trainer but its more of a sport plane.

Re: What is the best Kits ??

I was impressed by the Herr Engineering J-3 I just finished. Would have been a good first kit for me (instead I started out with a Unionville Norseman, a lot of fun but I wouldn't reccomend for a first-timer).

Re: What is the best Kits ??

If you want something more than average, buy Germans kits. This is a very nice company Exclusiv-Modellbau

If you don't want a trainer, and want a warbird instead, go for a Top-Flite Gold edition kit. These are great kits that go together beautifuly.
