AR7000 settings changed spontaneously

3 yr old JR X9503 TX and Spectrum AR7000 Rx ...
I had a few instances of apparent loss of bind before with one or two models (which looked in the end like bad connection from a satellite Rx) but this is a whole new ball of wax.

Between one successful day's flying and the next outing something happened (twice now) to one aircraft's settings/controls.

Upon turning the Tx and then the plane on, the control surfaces went weird. The Elev deflected down, the Rud became offset and one Ail seemed inoperative (if I have that right).

Upon operating the sticks, more weird stuff happened. The Rud and Elev seemed coupled and only one Ail worked.

An on-the-spot re-bind sorted everything out and subsequent flts that day were fine!

I replaced the Rx with a spare and bound it, but it has happened again!

It seems like the prob is not in the Rx, and none of the several other AC and heli memories in the Tx show this problem.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?

Re: AR7000 settings changed spontaneously

Have had many sat cable issues ( one this week ) but never more than that. If a AR7000 does not see the sat on initial power on it will do wierd stuff. If it is available during power on and then drops out after the System will ignore the sat and run on main unit alone.

What would happen on a range check? Did Rx and sat leds come on during power up?

If you tried a second Rx and sat with the same issues I would double check the power system (batt, cables and switch). Verify that the firmware supports brown out detection. With Tx and Rx on and bound cycle the Rx power and the Rx leds should start blinking.

Next step would be to create a completly new model slot in Tx and set up from scratch without copying. I had a model forget some stuff once and it was a Tx memory issue.

Just a side note is the Rx flight log capable? If so how were the results?

Spektrum makes this flight log,

http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/D...ProdID=SPM9540

Maybe you should give it a try. It's tiny, so it won't affect any c of g setting, but it works as long as the battery is plugged in. Check your airplane after a flight, gives some really useful data.

Good luck, Daren.

Thanks Darren. Another good idea.

Another day and 3 more flts ... AOK. Mostly just cct flts with a few basic aerobatics.
I used a Spektrum Flight Log for 2 flts and recorded:-
1) 30 fades on Rx A, 5 fades on L Rx, no frames lost, no holds.
2) 4 fades on Rx A, 6 fades on L Rx, no frames lost, no holds.

Log showed batt volts of 5.2 and 5.0

Cycling Rx power makes the main Rx blink but not the sat Rx. It stays solid.
Your take?

BTW, all my Rxs have been back to Horizon for upgrading (brownout detection?) or obtained post design improvement.

Re: AR7000 settings changed spontaneously

Flight log data well within limits. sounds like the satalite is older than the Rx. It should flash as well. i know the Rx's are updateable when sent in but maybe sats are not?? I would do a wiggle test at both ends of the sat cable with the system powered up.If the sat led flickers at all the cable is bad. The terminals in the small white plug become weak with vibration and excess dissconections. Spectrum has an optional cable if you need to unplug them regularly.
