Doing a buddy box from a futaba to another futaba radio. My channel is 41. The person I am training - does their transmitter have to be on the same channel? thanks.

Hi,

the second Futaba box (the one used as a buddy box) is not to be turned on at all. For safety we remove the crystal. No battery is required on the buddy box side either, so no, the frequency that is there doesn't matter.

Thanks. Is removing the crystal on the transmitter a big deal? I've only ever heard that the only people that should remove it are at the factory.

Thanks again.

You don't really have to, probably easier to just remove the battery in case you accidentally turn it on. Our buddy boxes at the club have neither but if you and your buddy are using your transmitters, the battery is easier.

You just want to make sure you aren't transmitting on the channel since it's not required.
