Extreme Flight Yak

I am going to order a new giant scale plane for next year!

I was going to buy the Aeroworks 50 cc Yak but I have heard a few good comments on the Extreme Flight 88 inch Yak. I would love to hear from other pilots who have experienced the Extreme Flight Yak.

I like IMAC routines but enjoy the odd wall and hover!

Which one would you buy!

Thanks

Re: Extreme Flight Yak

I've enjoyed building and flying planes from both of these companies. I noticed trends relating to each individual brand, each has there own qualities.

Aeroworks-
(pros) strong, VERY high quality build, easy assembly, great performance

(cons) heavy, expensive

Extreme Flight-
(pros) light, easy assembly, awesome performance

(cons) built for light weight, not strength, poor fitment of cowls, "cheaper" looking on completion.

All in all both are great companies and all of the products fly wonderful. Aeroworks is an all around good performer, good for Imac and 3D, Extreme Flight is all out 3D. Again these are general comments and each design has its own highs and lows.

This is only my opinion and its based on my own experience with both. I would and have been a repeat customer of both.

Andrew.

Re: Extreme Flight Yak

I have the 88" and the 110" Extreme Flight Yaks. My second 110" EF Yak is waiting for pick up at the Toronto International airport.
I didn't have any problems with fit or build quality with any of my EF ARF's (8 in total). In fact there's nothing weak about the 88" or 110" Yak airframes. I've "crash" landed my 88" at least a half dozen times and I've never even torn the landing gear out. They are lighter than most of the competition while at the same time being a fair bit larger.
The other pro to add to Andrew's list is that the EF 88" Yak is THE standard for which other 50cc class arf's are measured against.

Re: Extreme Flight Yak

I agree whole heartily with Steve, I did not mean that they are "weak" just that in comparison with aeroworks, have a lighter, less robust build

The 88" EF products are unmatched in performance.

Re: Extreme Flight Yak

Thanks guys,
One thing I like, being original. There are a few Aeroworks YAKs at my local field, I think I'm going to go for the Extreme Flight!

09 is going to be a great year!

Thanks again!

Thumbs up Re: Extreme Flight Yak

Well I've owned 3 of Chris's great products.

I had one of the original 68" 120 size Yaks and two of the 87" Yaks.

All have been great performers and very light . I only fly IMAC so can't attest to 3D ability, I'll leave that to Steve!

Right now I am about 99.9% sure I am going to try one of his 88" Extras just to see what all the hub bub is about Extras! Blue and Yelllow fo course!

Hughes go with the Black and Yellow Yak!

Re: Extreme Flight Yak

Steve you will not be dissapointed with your choice, mine weighed 16.5 lbs with DA 50 until the right wing came off in flight, no fault of the plane. Couldnt begin to tel you how well it was flying. Have replaced it with the Hanger 9 carden yak, nice plane but around a lb heavier and the engine just supports this aircraft. So,,, if your interested I have some spare parts for you, wings, tail group, landing gear and I think Dean O has the canopy and hatch, hopefully you will never need any of this but you never know. But then again a guy with your creativity might just build a giant ugly stick !. Let me know.

Hi Dave,
I'd hate to anticipate a crash but ya, we should talk!
Would love to have some extra parts!
