Re: LX SU47 twin 70mm build

I've been slowly ditching my HK supply of batteries due to their low performance and puffing up issues. And, the costs look very attractive on their website, but once you see the exchange rate, shipping costs and the delays getting them, not so attractive.

At first I started buying Thunder Power batteries and they of course perform very good, but the cost was getting up to where I didn't want to get more. Then my buddy advised me on the Venom batteries. He flies turbine jets and uses them.

So far, I have 6 of these batteries, four 4 cell 5000's for my big foam Mig-15 and two 5 cell 3800's for my foam Habu and foam Arrow. They seem to work fine so far, no signs of puffing even at fairly high amp draw. I have not used them much, but so far, they seem to be pretty good. When I get back to Canada, I'll be visiting the hobby shop and pick up some extras.

The Sukhoi looks really nice Eric, job well done. I'm bring mine back to Canada with me so I hope to get it done before the flying season. I still don't like the twin setup, I just might gut the interior and install the 90 mm setup I have for my Arrow. Hoping the fiberglass thrust tube will fit, but I think it won't due to the alignment of the fan to the tail cone.

Big Boys With Cool Toys,
2200 Dundas St E, Mississauga
905-629-9366

On the internet, they have mixed reviews, but I have nothing bad to say about them. Sometimes I think negative reviews are not always what they seem anyway. Sometimes there is a personality conflict.

But, the hobby store is very well stocked, you'll enjoy the visit.

The venom batteries have a pretty good warranty too, you register them online to activate the warranty, but keep your sales receipt for reference.

They list their 6S packs on their web site. For that kind of money, I will stick with Gens Ace (even if it means a trip across the border to pick up or pay top dollar at Rotorquest in Toronto).

Re: LX SU47 twin 70mm build

Rather than trying to piece together the broken FW TV nozzles damaged on the maiden attempt I ordered a set from RCCastle and they arrived quickly (1 week). The new set was glued in with 5 minute epoxy and to prevent further damage a small tail wheel was added between the nozzles. The attitude on landing or takeoff will likely create frequent scrapes as the main gear is fairly short.
